A Note from Dr. Emily, Founder
Hi, I'm Dr. Emily, and I'm the founder of the Joy of Coding Academy. As someone with a PhD in Software Engineering and a former professor with over 50 internationally peer-reviewed publications, in my role as Program Director for Computer Science at Drew University, I graduated dozens of confident coders & six figure software developers who went on to amazing careers at industry giants like Amazon & Chase, as well as startups like Turo.
While a professor, I realized that teaching technology is fundamentally different from teaching subjects like math, history, or English. Tech changes. Rapidly. And that fundamentally changes how we teach. At the Joy of Coding, we teach our students to be confident AND adaptable, so that they can have their pick of future-proof careers.

Learn to use functions and loops to actually solve coding problems in a single file using python, one of the most versatile (and employable) programming languages on the planet. Understand the role of arithmetic and logic in solving coding challenges to sail through your interview. Take advantage of lists, strings, while loops, dictionaries, and files. Share your progress by using git to post your first portfolio project to GitHub. More advanced? Hop right into month 2...
Nail your next technical interview by showcasing your data structures & algorithms expertise. Learn to use data structures such as stacks, queues, dictionaries, multidimensional arrays, and linked lists. Appreciate algorithmic complexity with Big O by comparing sorting & searching algorithms. At the Joy of Coding Academy, you don't just learn abstract theory, you will practically apply these concepts by implementing the data structures and algorithms to deepen your learning and further develop your problem solving skills.
